: : : I have the original, yes the original, DY-74C. Does anybody know what this model is worth.? Yes, I know better guitars exist but not for $300! I have played many of the newer designs from every major guitar company and I haven't found anything that matches my Yairi. I am so happy I wandered into that music store to kill some time before meeting a friend for lunch! I have no idea what it's worth today but I don't really care, I'll never sell it. It plays as easily as any Taylor but the tone is miles ahead. Through the years the tone has only improved and I now am quite a snob ) about it's beautiful sound and great action. but he said OK! I threw down my credit card and practically ran out of the store with my prize before his boss could kill the deal. I said $300 figuring I was being funny, guitars with that kind of sound were generally about 2k or higher in '93. It wasn't priced, so I asked the salesman and he answered with "make me an offer". The moment I picked it up I knew I had found a jewel. It was still new but without a case as it had been on display and they had lost the case. I found it in 1993 at a small music store that I had never been in on the opposite side of my town.
